@cspanofficial: Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle on Monday sidestepped questions from House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) about why the agency didn’t place any of its agents on the roof the gunman used during the assassination attempt of former President Trump. “Can you answer why the Secret Service didn’t place a single agent on the roof?” he asked. “We are still looking into the advance process and the decisions that were made,” the director responded. Director Cheatle said she “should have been more clear” in her comments to ABC News in which she said agents were not on the “sloped roof” due to safety concerns. “There was a plan in place to provide overwatch and we’re still looking into responsibilities and who was going to provide overwatch,” she said.
