It depends, if I’m trying to defend the impact of my team initiative I would start at 60. If I’m analyzing someone elses job then it starts at 0.

I think those charts would be of interest in fields where the the competition is so close that the biggest difference between first and last is so little. Qualification in Motorsport, for example.

I kinda disagree. A small difference in numbers doesn't necessarily mean a small difference in consequence. Having a chart that always starts at zero doesn't make it more "true"

Y'all are missing the point. The bar chart communicates the value of Y using the area of the bar. One might be misled into interpreting that Candidate B is twice larger vs A.
