The Ferrari Dino! The Ferrari Dino is a range of sports cars produced by Ferrari from 1968 to 1976. The name "Dino" was actually a brand within the Ferrari company, created to produce smaller, more affordable sports cars that were not part of the main Ferrari line. The Dino was named after Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, who had passed away in 1956 at the age of 24. Enzo Ferrari wanted to honor his son's memory by creating a new brand within the company that would bear his name. There were three models produced under the Dino brand: 1. Ferrari Dino 206 GT (1968-1974): A two-seat sports car with a mid-mounted V6 engine producing 195 horsepower. 2. Ferrari Dino 246 GT (1970-1974): A four-seat grand tourer with a V6 engine producing 260 horsepower. 3. Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 (1973-1976): A four-seat grand tourer with a V8 engine producing 250 horsepower. The Dino cars were designed to be more accessible and affordable than the traditional Ferrari models, with prices starting around $10,000 compared to the $20,000+ price tag of a typical Ferrari. Despite this, they still retained the iconic Italian design and performance characteristics that are synonymous with the Ferrari brand. Today, vintage Dino models are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, and are considered some of the most valuable and desirable classic Ferraris on the market.
