I understand that you are trying to help people, but I wonder who you are trying to help them for.

it’s really hard for me to know what other people remember. i remember everything people tell me and i’m constantly surprised at how little other people remember. it’s very socially isolating

As a psychologist, do you think gifted people should grow and study among other gifted people? I ask because I imagine a sense of belonging would be easier to experience. I remember being annoyed (1)

Gifted AuDHD too here and I'm struggling to identify how much of this is due to giftedness and how much to autism or ADHD (in myself). Maybe they are undissociable and maybe that's ok!

I’ve spent years feeling like people think I’m not smart because I have trouble verbalizing my thought process. I can break it down in my head, it just doesn’t want to come out of my mouth.

this makes sending daily emails quite tough for me. I add so many steps to a simple reply or update. it's gotten hard to deal with sometimes

I got lucky and one of my hyperfocuses is human interaction and body language, so even tho i am on the spectrum i kinda brute forced my way to understanding every possible interpretation

No bc I want to take a bath but I need to clean it, but I need to shampoo the carpet and use the bath to dump/clean the reservoir bf I clean it, but before I do that I have to let the yard dry up…

I totally relate! Like being able to tell somebody is lying because we see all the physical clusters, gaps in their stories, incongruity with their character and a bunch of other things which is processed in a microsecond 😭 like I can break all this down in retrospect but in the moment it happens very quickly

The overcomplicated simplicity is funny. When I taught myself to crochet, I learnt these big elaborate patterns and stitches etc. It took me a year to wrap my head around a granny square. The simplest

how do you see the relationship between discrepancies and neurodivergence? i know 'spiky' profiles are associated with autism, but my verbal scores are all the way on right end of the bell curve -1

I also find it infuriating that gifted has just colloquially become “smart” bc I find parents trying repeatedly to get their child tested gifted when they clearly aren’t.

It’s sad how alone I felt in this world because I never found anyone that related fully with what my “thought life” was like, until finding folks like Dr. Joey on TIkTok. Thank you ❤️
