When client sends a png then I ask for a vector file pdf or illustrator and they send me a png resaved as a pdf.

change the.doc file extension to .zip, then go into the "media"folder, boom, every image that's in the doc is in that folder

one time I was designing employee hats and asked for the logo. the only thing they had was barely visible. I found a better version by googling the brand. still wasn't perfect but better to work with

Colleague sent me some pics to put up on our website in a word doc. I asked if they could send the individual JPEGs, maybe in a WeTransfer. He sent me a WeTransfer of the same word document.

you can download all images in word by using winrar to open the Word document. Still no vector though, but that wouldn't be in Word anyway.
