Had one dealer tell me that I needed a new motor. One year later I'm still driving the vehicle after having my radiator flushed several times from a oil cooler failure.

In a real world scenario, the cost of training will ALWAYS pay for itself in return

I had a hatchet job done on my vehicle and the mechanic had ASE Certification on his business card. Except no he wasn’t. Not a good look later!

I went to a Cummins class years ago for diagnosing after treatment. One of the trainers said that turbo’s were the most mis-diagnosed parts they had. At that time with Actuator they were around $7,000

Independent garages may employ dealer techs that worked on 1 line of vehicles, which limits diagnostic skills on other models some. But it is the basic skills that show through and eventually help them

I went to a tech school when I graduated high school, on the vehicle transmission training class, I was very disappointed in it. the semi truck class teacher was really good though.

most manufacturers are going to go to unit replacement eventually. more cost effective for them

The industry is far past gone. Vehicles are gonna get ridiculously expensive very soon when the able techs retire. If you need a simple transmission repair you're gonna be playing for a complete unit. If your engine loses something simple like a pushrod you probably gonna be buying a complete engine. This is industries going. The manufactures put this into motion 20 years ago.
