Gosh, that’s a hard sell for me. This book very nearly put me in a reading slump. Very slow and largely uneventful. Are we sure that character studies are prime slump breakers??

I absolutely love this book but I disagree about getting you out of a reading slump. It’s pretty slow especially in the beginning.

Absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Such complexity in plain, vivid prose. A lifetime of reading terrific novels and this is my current favorite. Looking forward to your extended take!
