The sons of Alpina's late founder have launched their own automotive venture with the stunning Bovensiepen Zagato, unveiled at Lake Como's Villa d'Este. Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen, who sold the family business to BMW in 2022, have partnered with legendary Italian coachbuilder Zagato to create this bespoke grand tourer based on the BMW M4 platform but featuring an entirely new carbon fiber body with Zagato's signature double-bubble roof. The collaboration transforms the M4 into something crazy, producing 602 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque from a heavily tuned 3.0-liter inline-six engine. That’s more horsepower than the 3.0 CSL, BMW’s most powerful inline-six production car to date. It also delivers more torque than the M4 CS. Despite weighing 120kg more than the donor car, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and exceeds 186 mph, aided by a lightweight Akrapovič titanium exhaust system and bespoke Bilstein dampers. Each Bovensiepen Zagato requires over 250 hours of handcrafted assembly incorporating more than 400 unique components, with interior customization alone taking 130 hours using premium Lavalina leather. Pricing & production numbers will be announced in the fourth quarter of the year. Deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of next year. A base M4 Convertible in the United States already starts at around $100K, so this “strictly limited” grand tourer will likely be deep into six-figure territory.
