I feel like Laena actually respected Vhagar. Took her out for enrichment flights. It was probably the best she was treated since Visenya, she didn’t want it to end. Aemond treats her like a nuke.

Well vhagar had no choice. It is how the dragon bond works, the riders command, once bonded, has to be followed. That Aemond lost control over Vhagar was miscommunication and didn't happen in the book

It was her rider. Visenya, Baelon and Laena all cared for their bond because of the bond. Aemond wanted a dragon and revenge for what he’s perceived as his downfall. Poor vhagar deserved better
