I pretend to cry and show pain in my face, it definitely helped. Now at 2 yo I can also explain verbally that it hurts or I’m sad at the bad behaviour.

I’ve done this since birth and it’s so effective. My daughter is 19 months and is so good at using gentle hands and she will also pat our backs when we carry her because we do it for her, so sweet🥹
