I never go to ER alone anymore. I found it I take my hubby or adult son with me, my care is much better than if I were alone or with a female family member.

Good advice. I would say also ask for the results of scans, ect. Make sure they told you about all the incident findings and that there is a plan

Ask for a card for every person that enters your room. You’re able to call their service if you have questions and they’re not communicating well with you.

I think your confused with the scope of practice of a nurse practitioner/ PA… in most a nurse practitioner can open there own practice a PA cannot.

I disagree. These are ways to make staff avoid you and you’ll get worse care acting like this. People work harder for you if they like you so you up talk them but ask what tests they are running ..

I feel like these are weird ER Tips… Who the attending is - not usually pertinent. PAs/NPs provide similar care so also not usually pertinent. Having a witness though is a good one.

Please be careful with your wording to avoid spreading misinformation. PAs and NPs are board certified and licensed to practice with a supervising or collaborating physician.

You realize many places have NPs and PAs that are independent and maybe no doc in-house. I’m an ER MD and disagree with this but is how it is some places…

PA's also have to have a supervising Physician and a certain amount of oversight. I think its appropriate to ask them to check with the attending if they seem at all unsure of what they are doing.

In Texas, you must show gross negligence to pursue a claim arising from emergency medical care. Check out the Texas Supreme Court’s recent decision in my case, Marsillo V Dunnick— the snakebait case
