Best way I think of it is witches are more earth-bound and use “tangible” magic (potions, herbology), while wizards are more outer-worldly and use intangible magic (like pulling things out of thin air

I think this might b a primarily English issue, cause in Spanish we have gendered versions of both, "brujo/bruja" for witchcraft and "hechicero/hechicera" for wizardry

Wizards are prophets, wizardry is the mystical practice of divination via a various methods, astromancy, pyromancy, necromancy etc. Witchcraft is essentially herbalism + mystical ritualism.

A wizard is a gender neutral term for someone who learned magic through study. Witch/warlock are the female/male versions of someone who gained magical powers through a pact or coven with a being capable of doing so.

Just an FYI the factual info here is incorrect. Witch refers exclusively to women. A male "witch" would be called a "warlock" , or a "cunning man" if aligned with "good"
