Tile guys are often asked to be interior designers for free. I've been in the trades since turquoise and Pink. This experience has value.

I get it but it’s tough because it’s sales. Sales people get paid when they sell stuff. Also, you could just go around giving estimates, getting paid, and never do any work.

Time is money this type of business. Customers can take measurements. Take photos, come to your place of employment. Have them drive and discuss what they would like. Even that it's time of contractor

No thank you! Just because you change the name and call it a consultation doesn’t mean that I want more than an estimate!

Idk what If my budget is at $25k but you come back at $50k. I don’t mind the fee but is it going to add value or are you only going to charge me only to tell me I can’t afford your business.

I tried this by charging $100 per estimate. Told them if they went with me, I would take it off the price. However, it’s like trying to wrestle clients over the phone with this type of charge.

You can only give so much value to a peanut butter sandwich. Companies want to show so much value they end up overvalued with job or service

1. I don’t want an “estimate”, I want a quote. 2. I’m not paying for a quote. Your investment of time to produce a quote is your incentive to be sharp. Otherwise you just make $ on the “estimate”.

Although, I do feel you should be compensated for your time, no quote is worth $500.
