I went Choose & Book with the NHS, however Psychiatry-UK state that 'The current wait time for assessment for new adult ADHD patients is estimated to be between 12-18 months' That's the current best.

You need to ask the GP which private health care organisations are verified by the NHS Integrated Care Board, they will only consider Right to Choose private partners who are verified 😉

Waited 2.5 years, got diagnosis, now I’m waiting a further 2 months to meet with the prescribing nurse due to a national shortage of meds! 🤣

Even the right to choose now the list is massive, I looked and it said 12 weeks, I'm currently on about month 7 and they said it's over a year now!

here in NI there are no regionally commissioned services for adult ADHD and therefore no requirement Health and Social Care Trusts to manage an ADHD waiting list.

But then it’s up to your GP if they decide to accept your private diagnosis, if they do not then you wouldn’t be able to get medication on the nhs etc.

Careful as some icb have told gp not to accept shared care for private diagnosis (rtc different). My gp accepted prior to this. I’m on a 2 year wait for review against NICE. Dx in 2000 in Aus conf uk

For me the best things are LOTS of cardio and cold showers, and good sleep. I prefer these than the meds. The meds are good for some but I had side effects I didn’t like.
