in the uk it's pretty standard to provide a welcome drink, toast drink, 1/2 bottle of wine per guest and the rest the guest pays themselves

I guess this works differently for us in the UK, we're having a closed bar so everyone just pays for their own drinks, no extra charges for us :)

as mentioned - an open bar at an Irish wedding is uncommon. our weddings tend to go from mid afternoon through to 3-4am (and some country weddings might have 300+ people).

We did no liquor for this reason and had open wine and beer! Liquor would have been $8/drink and our friends would have 100% chosen liquor— and a lot of it😂

We paid for three hours of open bar then consumption after. The 90 minutes of consumption were *as much* as the open bar. 🤦🏻♀️

Mine was consumption for beer, wine. Liquor was a cash bar. My family & friends are not big drinkers.We had a small bill.majority of guests were families with kids so not very many "let loose".

We are paying a bartender 700 he’s bringing mixers etc and we are buying the alcohol. We have said it’s open bar til the liquor is gone lol we are also having our signature drinks. Hope it goes well

We paid for half a bottle of wine per guest (including the children in the guest numbers) for dinner (the kids had juice obviously 😂) and the rest of the bottles of wine were free for guests to drink
