2019 - Charlotte mother’s sister (auntie) thanking Hope for Zimbabwe Children (HFZC) for the massive help. We were there when no one else was there and we gave them hope. We took Charlotte and mother to Karanda mission hospital on 29/11/2019. We funded their journey and upkeep to Parirenyatwa hospital and Charlotte spent many weeks admitted there. Unfortunately doctors went on strike and she was discharged without assistance and also they had no resources. The plan was to have surgery done. Their first visit to Karanda mission hospital which we funded was on 04/11/2019. The mother said a doctor looked at Charlotte's cancer and they were advised to go back to Parirenyatwa hospital. 1.Their second visit to Karanda mission hospital was with Sisi Vee and HFZC volunteer on 29/11/2019. On 28/11/2019 we visited Charlotte and mother in Murehwa. The mother and family were very thankful of the help given and efforts made and she gave Sisi Vee a live road runner chicken, mazhanje and a sack of mapfunde. We drove them to Mbare , Harare and arranged to meet them the following day (29/11/2019) in town. We ecocashed them transport money etc and we met on 29/11/2019 in the city centre and drove them to Karanda hospital around Mt Darwin area. When we arrived at the hospital Charlotte was attended to , had tests done which HFZC paid for. She was 'put' on a drip and the cancer was dressed. We left them there and they spent 4 nights at the hospital. We paid for their accomodation and upkeep and transport back to Murehwa. The medical team informed that her cancer is at an advanced stage such that the hospital cannot operate on her but she needed specialised medical care . Charlotte also had underlying health issues which complicated her health needs especially in Zimbabwe where resources are limited. She was also on a special diet and her unemployed mother who is her main carer struggled to cope. Charlotte's mother said the cancer oozes worms at times and smells , strong ordour from the cancer. It was a sad and desperate case and HFZC continued offering the best help and support we could for Charlotte. Unfortunately like all other cases we are giving assistance ...the patients should be admitted in hospital but due to the crippled health system in Zimbabwe these patients are left to suffer in their homes.
