TBF garages don't charge any less for a qualified less experienced mechanic fitting a towbar than they do for their top diagnostic mechanic/ tech working on a newish S class.

Experienced mechanics annual turnover at main dealers is upwards of €1m. Lads have no clue what they’re worth, once they realise- everyone goes working for themselves.

if a plumber or electrician called to fix a "breakdown" in your home before they walk in the door it's say €250 (call out) 99% of people woukd bat an eye lid. mechanic = worse paid trade.

As an apprentice mechanic I can assure you qualified mechanics in dealerships have it easy. Majority of the time you bring your car into a main dealer an apprentice is working on it.

Mechanics will get the wages they deserve in the near future. The dealerships kept all the good wages for the fat cats at the top. They were top heavy for years but things are turning around.

I'm on €750 a week non qualified looking after a big fleet of vans, it's all about knowing and the right diagnostics. I'm very unlucky county went bust learning when I was young but stick at it lads.

My opinion on it is if your doing the training and up skilling yourself your entitled too more money but aswell the lad that has 15+ years experience should be on very good money 800+ money keeps lads
