the more I try to fix it/say the “right” thing the more I get frustrated when it isn’t received by him. So just sitting with him and his feelings makes sense for at least keeping me regulated

My strategy for tantrums has always been to say “I know 😢 it’s hard” and then give them space while staying present. They eventually came to me for comfort when they were ready every time.

what do you do if your 3yo throws or knocks things over out of frustration? I don't know what "boundary" to do here so he doesn't get more "testy"

As a grandmother, do you let them have their tantrum and feelings at the table or can you move them so it's not disrupting everyone's meal.

This! It makes a huge difference and you won't see the results of your work until their older. My 7yo now is so good at handling his emotions.

Actually your job is to stop them from having a tantrum. Get your kids to shut up.

I’m starting to worry because my three year old doesn’t tantrum like this? She’s very vocal and whines a lot but full blown tantrums? No. I’m anxious now and I’m an SEL educator who normally feels

So do you just sit there and let him cry and scream while everyone eats? Last night my daughter wanted me to hold her while I was cooking, and if I put her down she would cry. Maybe I should just let

Yesss! Get comfortable with uncomfortable emotions. Negative emotions are still valid emotions and that’s okay. Giving them space to express that and sticking to the boundaries is the most important
