I've been contemplating things like what it's called when we, as pet parents, give voices and thoughts to these wonderful creatures. It's called anthropomorphism—attributing human traits, emotions, and intentions to our pets. I know I'm not the only one who does this. Our pets have their own characteristics, but we also create this unique bond that is special to each pet owner and their pets. When our beloved pets pass away, the emptiness can be overwhelming, especially if the relationship between pet and owner is very close, like mine was with Winston. He truly felt like a son to me. Even though I know he was a cat, it doesn't change the fact that the pain of his absence is still a part of me. His unique personality, which I helped shape through anthropomorphism, made our bond incredibly special.
