Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place 2 tbsp of vegetable shortening in a 10-inch cast iron skillet and melt in the oven. 2. In a bowl, make a well in the flour and pour in milk. Add melted shortening from skillet. Stir until well combined; adjust consistency with water if needed. 3. Spoon dough into hot skillet. Brush with melted shortening. 4. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Switch oven to broil and brown the tops. 5.
