It completely depends on your hair type and your scalp. If you have an oily scalp you should wash it more often. If your hair and scalp are more dry you can wash less often. If I washed my hair everyday it would dry it out and cause more damage. Everyone is unique and you just have to do what works for your hair.

Do what works best for your hair and scalp. If you get oily and have buildup after a few days then you should wash so your follicles don’t get clogged. Your hair needs its natural oils it’s good for it so over washing will strip those.
