@dockeiser: Heart Palpitations When Lying Down Causes Palpitations can be exacerbated by lying on the left side due to the heart's proximity to the chest wall, which may amplify the sensation. Factors such as changes in blood supply, kinking or occlusion of blood vessels, and increased pressure from a full stomach can contribute to this phenomenon. When lying down, particularly after eating, blood flow may become turbulent, causing vibrations that are felt in the chest. Additionally, inflammation around the heart, such as pericarditis, can lead to increased sensitivity to the heartbeat. Adjusting body position or moving can alleviate these palpitations, suggesting that obstructed blood flow may be a contributing factor. My heart palpitations, especially when I was laying down, ended up being "critically low" potassium. When I got my potassium up, it went away.

I told my cardiologist that my heart does that when I lay on my left side. It also feels like it’s skipping beats. He wasn’t concerned. Ha.

I'm annoyed that it's described as "you're feeling your heartbeat more". No, I'm feeling it pause, or flutter, or flip, or glug. I can feel when it's normal and I "notice" it.

I couldn’t sleep last night because my heart was beating rapidly and then dropping then back to 150 then immediately down to 70 . This cycle went on for hours. Also I peed 7 times in 2 hours. Scary

I get early beats, which I used to call palpitations until my doc set me straight. Oddly, gas seems involved. Beta blockers really help but simethicone finished the job

mine seem to be inflammation of the gut and hormonal changes, estrogen dominance. I have PVCs, tachycardia, Bigemini, and flutters (sometimes NSVT) But all my tests come back "normal"
