@tamerlainesanctuary: 💔Our dear sweet Cookie. We are so sad to say goodbye. We had the great privilege to be your caretakers for the last 7 years of your life. You came to us from a horrific abuse case emaciated and sick but you flourished in our care and became a happy, goofy, shy goat who spent all of your years here being Fawn’s best friend. We are so grateful that we were able to spend your final weeks with you helping you through assisted living and hospice care with Fawn by your side. We saw how much you enjoyed being the center of attention and getting all of the special treats. Saying goodbye to our older population of animals is going to be very difficult. We have been rescuing animals for a decade and now many of our animals have already outlived what would be a typical life span for their species. We have many animals getting ready to make the same transition that Cookie just went through. Our only comfort is knowing that we do our best for all of the animals in our care every day. We are grateful for the affection they continue to show us even as they are transitioning to the end of their lives. Run free sweet Cookie. Thank you for all of the lessons you taught us about love and forgiveness and the ability to trust humans after suffering so much pain and abuse at their hands. We will love and remember you for the rest of our lives.
