Hereditary lords are actually kind of good because generally they dont have any political affiliations so are not biased which is good when it comes to scrutinising bills

To me, having another legislative body of persons who have a significant stake in the country, even if unelected, is fine. The greater danger is having all power in one elected body without a check.
