that's why they have a long list of possible disabilities when they ask on forms bc most wouldn't assume certain things are a disability like ADHD and asthma are listed but both are invisible

The amount disability people are unaware are being accommodated on a regular basis is so people don’t feel disabled is astounding because old age is a disability

Given that my driving route might change if it's dark and raining proves my astigmatism is a disability. I won't turn left without a light when it's dark and raining even with my glasses.

Or the stigma of being disabled. Like it makes you less of a person.

the headaches you get when you wear your glasses for too long hurts so much. I can relate to those who wear a cochlear who take it off when they need a break from hearing everything

If I didn’t have my glasses I couldn’t see, full stop. Like I couldn’t get around my home, never mind drive, cook, shower. I have vision for about 3 inches in front of my face only.

Whats your end goal? Whats your point? I work with ppl with actual disabilities. You should be ashamed of yourself. You're not legally blind so you are not disabled! Stop it!

In college I went to class with my sunglasses on because my godson bent my regular glasses. Without my backup glasses I would’ve needed a ride & no chance of reading the board. When I get dilated I bring my “seeing eye human” so I don’t walk into a wall it messes with me so bad. So hell yes it’s a disability.

Is the source of confusion because most vision impairments are not /legal/ disabilities under the law?

How do they get off thinking that vision issues wouldn't be considered even somewhat of a disability? Some people quite literally have their vision get so bad they're damn near blind or do go blind.

the difference is it isn't OFFICIALLY recognized as a disability. visual impairment is reaaaaally strict as far as qualifying for disability. I have to assume it's due to the active accomadation
