@talk.baby.to.me: Replying to @Kathryn #greenscreenvideo 🤍as a speech-language pathologist, I want to use this platform to educate and advocate! 🤍comparison is the THEIF OF JOY! social media is a breeding ground for comparison – fear mongering, and pushing upsetting content to your fyp algorithm is a marketing strategy to make you want to keep scrolling. despite knowing better, I have fallen into this trap many times. 🤍this is your reminder that EVERY child is uniquely themselves, on their own individual learning and development journey. it is NOT a race! 🤍 milestones are so important – but it does NOT mean your child has a developmental delay if they do not master a skill the exact they turn 6, 9, 12 months etc. there is a wide range of typical development 🤍 many children will develops skills early and with ease, while other children require varying levels of early intervention (an amazing resource, when warranted)! 🤍 some babies, have a fearless personality and may experiment with skills early, while other babies are more cautious and reserved and may wait longer to practice. BOTH ARE OKAY! 🤍 your pediatrician will keep you informed and will recommend an evaluation if they feel your child could benefit early intervention services. You can also self-refer your child for an eval (through your local health department) if you have concerns 🤍YOU are your child’s best advocate if you feel something is amiss, but try your best to not let social media worry you unecessarily. #talkb#talkbabytomeslpy#earlyinterventionm#babymilestonesd#babydevelopments#babysfirststepss#babysfirstwordo#MomsofTikToky#blueybabyracer#babyrace

my daughter did this with everything. barely a word, and then full paragraphs. no in-between. it's like she wouldn't even attempt new milestones until she had them mastered in her mind.

My son is 13mo and LOVES his push walker but refuses to take a step or even stand independently. He’s strong and well balanced but just not a little scared. This is a good reminder that he’ll get there when he’s ready.

I didn’t walk until 22 months due to low muscle tone. It took a month between my first steps and fully walking because of my timid personality!
