@featrmedia: This is your sign to make your own pastil at home. 👨🏻‍🍳 We tried this famous dish during our last food trip in Quiapo and it was instantly one of our most viral featured dishes of that year! 🤯 This is Sam’s own take on this specialty from Maguindanao that’s best known for its taste, unique packaging, and affordability. We did the usual chicken pastil, but you can also change things up by using beef or even fish! 😉 PASTIL Ingredients: 2 cups rice, washed 3 cups water 2 whole boiled chicken breast, deboned and flaked 1/4 cup minced garlic, minced 1/2 cup minced onion, medium diced 1 tbsp minced turmeric root, minced/ grated 4 tbsp oyster sauce 3 tbsp vinegar 2 tbsp brown sugar 4 pcs hard boiled eggs 3 pcs sliced cucumber for garnish and side condiment banana leaves for wrapping Procedure: 1. Boil the chicken breast with salt and pepper, then debone and shred it. Sauté garlic, onion, and minced turmeric in oil, add the shredded chicken, oyster sauce, vinegar, and sugar, and cook until the edges are crispy. 2. Lay cooked turmeric rice on a banana leaf, top with flaked chicken, garnish with hardboiled egg and cucumber slices, then wrap it all in the banana leaf.
