@lisaeverstv: #onassignment Randalls Island shooting near migrant tent shelter takes the life of a 44 yo woman, and injures a 32 yo man & 31 yo woman. Happened 3:30am Mon morning at Field 71 adjacent to migrant tent shelter where a group of Venezuelan migrants were drinking & partying. Shooting was over a gunpoint chain snatching robbery. ▪️Suspects still on the run. ▪️Park workers, park goers (many sports programs there & riverfront views) & working New York men staying at the city men's shelter told us the migrant shelter users have brought violence, intimidation, open air defecation, garbage, vandalism & sexual harrassment of women workers at the park. There have been previous violent incidents at the shelter. ▪️We were told the city does not keep separate records for migrant shelter or migrant crime. ▪️@nypd patrols the area & seized dozens of unregistered (some stolen) cars, moped, & dirt bikes parked at the shelter. ▪️The free summer day camp for 400 city kids ages 6-12 run by Randalls Island Park Alliance had to cancel camp Mon & today (Tues) due to this situation. #fox5ny @Fox 5 New York
