@goingzerowaste_: Replying to @iz I want to be extra clear, because this post received some negative comments on other platforms. If having your nails done, hair done etc. makes you feel good - do it! Those things don't make me feel good so I choose not to do them. I don't enjoy spending my time or my money that way, and I often feel pressure from social media to do those things even though they don't bring me joy. Did anyone see the video earlier this year, stating that unpolished nails are gross? Anyways, I feel as though theres and ever rising 'bar' with the beauty industry, and my thoughts on that can be it's own post if you're interested. I believe people should be able to look and feel their best, and I know I’m approaching this topic with quite a bit of privilege, but I don’t particularly care for the major consumerism pushed on women (see so much of TT shop! (and often through the guise of wellness) to constantly have to spend and spend. It feels like there's a new MUST HAVE beauty product or treatment that's being hawked every two weeks. I see this as a financial burden, as well as something that can be fairly wasteful. Maybe I’ll write a long post on these connections or do a longer YT video if anyone is interested?
