🚨 LDWF Proposes Ban on Coyote Rehabilitation August 7🚨 Louisianians, We need your help! Please ATTEND the LDWF Commission meeting August 7th, 9:30 am, this Thursday, to voice your opposition to the proposed ban on the rehabilitation of coyotes in Louisiana. Comments will be part of the public record. We need the LDWF Commission to understand that many citizens oppose this! The wildlife of Louisiana is of the public trust, and what we think should matter! Directly after comments are made on Thursday the commission will vote to oppose or approve this ban. Coyotes are already stripped of nearly all legal protections in our state. Unlike other wildlife, coyotes can be killed year-round without any bag limits, which means even pregnant moms in spring, and pups during the summer. They get no relief. Now they may be denied even the most basic act of welfare, a chance at recovery when sick, injured, or orphaned. Through our work with Zelda, Koa, and Ti-Loup, we’ve shown that coyotes are intelligent, sensitive, and vital to healthy ecosystems. Our followers have learned how to coexist with them safely and humanely, through education, not fear. The proposed coyote rehab ban does nothing to address real community concerns. It’s not a solution nor is it a proactive measure that would help to mitigate human-wildlife conflict. What actually helps? Education. Outreach. Practical coexistence strategies. That’s what we strive to do through our educational efforts, and what LDWF should support. Attend the public meeting: 🗓️ August 7 | 🕘 9:30 AM 📍 LDWF HQ – 2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge Emailed comments sent before the meeting to commissioners WILL NOT BE part of the public record, however, those who live too far to attend the meeting can email LDWF and the commission to express their concern AFTER the meeting Find contacts here: https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/commission And here:https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/meet-the-executive-staff For more information on how to keep your pets and property safe and humanely deter foxes and coyotes please visit thecanidproject.com
