This video is dedicated to the incredibly kind people we met in countries ending in “stan” ❤️ If you’re new here, my husband and I are on a mission to visit every country in the world. And after traveling to 167 countries, including every “stan,” we want to share a different perspective than what might first come to mind when you hear the name of these countries. Here’s one story (and there are many more) of the hospitality we experienced in each of the 7 “stan” countries: - Pakistan: a family invited us to join them for Eid, their biggest holiday - Afghanistan: our car broke down + people drove us 2 hours to Kabul, then paid for our dinner - Uzbekistan: before we even crossed the border, people invited us to their home - Tajikistan: a teenager in the shared taxi shared her food with us - Turkmenistan: workers in a cafe sat with us and told us about their country - Kazakhstan: a random lady walked us the whole way to our AirBnB when we couldn’t find it - Kyrgyzstan: a family went out of their way to help us, then invited us on their family vacation You guys who’ve been following us know that one thing we’ve learned through travel is that people are not their governments. There are 371 million people who live in the 7 different “stan” countries, and something we experienced through having conversations with people here, is that we are all far more similar than we are different. Imagine if you heard from people your whole life how bad your home country is. Yet in the 167 countries we've visited, we met some of the kindest people throughout Central & South Asia. To be clear - we are not making this video to recommend that everyone travel to these countries. While some have good tourism infrastructure, others (especially Afghanistan) require strong safety measures. We are also not diminishing the horrific things people in some of these countries have gone through (watch our Afghanistan videos for opportunities to help). Caption continued in comments!
