Installing Trim-Tex Bead Step By Step Guide 🤩✨ First I measure the bead 1/2” off the floor. After cutting the bead, dry fit your bead onto the corner. I always put the cut side to the ground so the factory edge is placed at the ceiling. Apply either taping mud or all purpose mud. Never use finishing mud to install bead or tapes. Place and set your bead using your fingers, sliding the bead snug on the corner of the drywall. Begin to remove your mud with a drywall knife. Make sure you don’t over wipe the mud out from under the bead. Over wiping causes air pockets. After the excess mud is removed, place your knife on the bead to check that there is an even amount of light on either side of the bead. This is how you make sure your bead was installed straight. Light check is important, especially for when you coat your bead. If the bead isn’t set properly, the mud won’t apply as evenly. Taking the extra time to ensure your bead is put on properly is worth it. Trim-Tex bead provides mud lock technology so after I have wiped and light checked, I run my knife along the mud lock strip on the edges on either side of the bead. This locks the paper to the drywall. If you haven’t used Trim-Tex Fast Edge you’re truly missing out. I swear by this product because not only does it use less mud to coat, it’s more durable than metal bead and I’ve never once got a single air pocket under my bead.
