How much weight should you be using? Knowing what weight to use can be confusing, especially when you’re first starting out. Grab a weight you think you can use and aim for your target rep range. Focus on form and slow controlled reps. Make sure to pause at the bottom of each rep and squeeze your muscle at the top. A good rule of thumb is if you finish your set and the last couple reps were easy or you can get more than the target rep range, it’s time to increase the weight.
