Replying to @✨ Ki ✨ i wanted to show the other reality of managing my own treatment. These types of reactions and responses to frustrating and chronic illness burnout is valid. It is NOT easy to live with a chronic illness (or multiple) and definitely not easy to depend on medical devices to live. Many people will experience this overwhelming feeling of frustrating, loneliness, and helplessness when going through their journey, and its okay. Overlayed background lyrics: “getting older” by Billie Eilish VD: Tayler, a young white thin woman with medium length brown hair, is accessing her port. She accidentally compromises a dressing and has to start over, then is about to start and noticed the fan is going over her sterile field, gets frustrated, and throws the supplies. The text reads, “ this is a very vulnerable, but honest video about how difficult and frustrating it can be living with chronic illnesses and depending on medical devices. This is my second time trying to access my port. The first time the needle was bent. It’s hard mentally, and the risk of infection weighs on me heavily. I can usually stay pretty steady but sometimes the medical burnout is just too much and I get extremely overwhelmed.” At one point the text overlays, “ my husband comes to comfort and ground me. He knows how hard it can be mentally on me.” She tries to access her port again and thr text reads, “ I took a second to breathe and successfully did it.” The end says, “ again this is not a normal reaction for me, but sometimes the stress mentally, and physically cannot be containing anymore. Almost everyone has had or will have a similar reaction when dealing health issues the impact your life so greatly it’s valid.” this is in response to two questions reading, “you’re such a pro at accessing your line you make it look so easy I’ve never had had a Port but I think I would get so frustrated,” and “ you look so calm and collected while accessing your port! I still have needle anxiety, even though I’ve had my port access twice a week for over five years!” #eh#ehlersdanlosd#edso#potso#posturalorthostatictachycardiasyndromee#medicaldeviceh#chronicillnesse#medicalburnout
