I saw someone write “waist” when they meant “waste”. And that’s just the most memorable one I’ve seen lately. I always smack my head seeing the wrong word used.

Some of the teachers I follow, and a couple I know in real life, have also talked about how we aren’t teaching phonetic reading anymore, which is also hurting literacy rates

yikes I wonder if it's the same with the new math. imo I never needed to understand "why" 2+2 =4 or 2×2=4 I figured that out later

But children not knowing how to read isn’t correlated to the alphabet song all of those people know the alphabet. Literary crisis is due to other factors

You can just sing it slower and enunciate the letters as I did and taught.

1 in 5 people have dyslexia per the dyslexia society. So is this just those numbers spread out? Or does that illiteracy represent other diagnoses? My son is dyslexic and I just want to learn all i can

More people are having literacy problems now than they did in the 90s. Don’t think a lot of the changes are working. They’re not even teaching kids phonics anymore.

Most Americans mock other foreigners for talking in their own language. But most of them doesn't or can't even understand a simple English instruction 😅
