Leasing a new car every 36 months, is the best financial decision if you want a new car every 36 months.

This is true and if going over is a possibility then leasing is a bad idea.

I try to buy used cars that I can pay cash for, and drive them until it’s just not practicable to continue fixing them. My civic has over 200K miles. But, I have kept it maintained.

Finance/buy/lease. All bad investments it’s a car. Lease if you want a new car you can’t afford to buy. Finance if you’ll keep it for 10 years and don’t mind driving an older car.

Take the money factor and multiply by 2400, that's your APR. Most are under 5-6%. Some are 1-2%

Leases are also better because if for some reason you got a bad deal, you can walk at the end, and if you like the car and want to keep it you can just refinance it.

Lexus sales rep, leases are great options for low mileage drivers and people that aren’t ready to pay cash for a vehicle. One pay lease, save taxes and purchase at the end for residual value.

okay, I get it. But something that really bothers me is, it doesn't make a lot of sense to actually own a car anymore for most people. The cars are not made to last anymore.

I’m 17 years old. Bought my Lexus a month after my 16 birthday, saved money from working for about 3 years. Proudest moment of my life to be able to buy it out right Instead of financing.

I’ve been leading a new car every 3 years for the last 20 years. Zero maintenance including tires. Only oil changes if the dealer doesn’t throw those in for free. I’m a happy guy.

He's way off on that 14.2%. Leasing is not a finance rate. It's a money factor at a thousands of 1%. lf you trade every 3 years for the newest and most upgrades a lease gives you equity when you get

would you ever consider a lease as a tool to remove negative equity in a car you are currently financing?

If you don’t currently have enough savings, is it better to first save for a down payment and then get a mortgage or get a mortgage right away so the money doesn’t devalue while you’re saving it?

I managed to lease a new Nissan juke for 0 deposit and £287 per month no nasty suprised. if I bought used, depreciation too, maintenance, hassle of buying/selling private. Not bad leasing imo…

But the offset to always leasing is you’re never putting money into (major) maintenance when things start breaking

Leasing has too many benefits. Gap isurance, option to buy car at a fixed value in future.

I’ve never understood why people lease a vehicle. In Virginia you still have to pay property tax on it every year just like you own it.
