@danshutes: We can't complain about how difficult it is for kids to hold still and focus in class and then turn around and take away their opportunity to go outside to get it all out... Let kids play. #teacher #teachersoftiktok #teacherlife #school #students #fyp
Always thought talking away recess was weird and I feel like it even expands into adult work spaces, taking away certain essential decompression opportunities as a form of punishment.

Exactly. They need the break. Helps them concentrate. We had THREE recesses: 20-30 min morning & afternoon, 15 min after lunch. Very few behavior problems. But that was mid-60s to 70s.

If they have lunch detention, do they still get recess?

As a kid who was undiagnosed with ADHd and autism untill an adult ! I wish I had a teacher like this 🙌 because I acted out because I needed to move and taking away this did not help

Unfortunately we have taken away recess. My class last year was a 15:1. Behavior issues all around. They refused to work. So had them work in recess. Not often, but did happen

In the second grade I couldn’t go outside because I had to finish my work while I watched everyone else play
