Ok, for y’all who don’t know yes you have to take Shahada, to say you’re practicing Islam. You also declare this in your Salat. So if he’s praying as a Muslim should he says his Shahada every salat. But officially for the record you’re supposed to say it with two witnesses. Shahada is a pillar of Islam and you can’t change it.
