I got my fridge in the 90s and it has a little bar that raises automatically to turn it off once the box fills. Do new fridges not have that same cut off lever or is your fridge broken?

my mom's sensor is also broken and it's a drawer freezer so when it overfills it automatically drops it underneath the fridge when you open it😢
