@cbcnews: As the number of N12 or “own-use” evictions rise in Ontario, tenants are being pitted against landlords who say they want their property back to move in themselves or house family members — but some tenants aren’t buying it. CBC’s Ioanna Roumeliotis spoke to two long-term tenants in a Toronto building who are fighting back, saying their landlord simply wants to charge a higher rent. In an email to CBC, their landlord denied the evictions are in bad faith. #toronto #rent #housing

If they didn't want to gamble, they should have invested in something that was a guaranteed return.

When you become a landlord, the house should remain a rental property forever otherwise, don’t let people buy multiple houses or give 6-12 months compensation to the tenant to leave

Dealing with an N12 right now, even though our landlords know we have a 2 year old and can't afford to rent elsewhere in Toronto

What's funny is that housing providers are stuck with tenants that play way below market rate. it's not an equitable system!!!!

It’s ridiculous that LL’s can even evict for anyone but themselves. Why should a person be afforded even more privilege for being related to someone who can afford multiple residences?

If a land lord can’t pay their bills on the building, what r they to do.also their own families might really need that apartment because they can’t afford an apartment either

this is why housing is no longer built, investors and potential landlords believe it's too big a risk with no more upside

A landlord should be able to do whatever they want after the lease expires. If tenants have a problem with that then they should have bought. Tenants have rights that they haven't earned.

Still waiting for the owners to move in across the street, that was the reason they gave the renters. Been 2 months since the renters left. 😳

No, he doesn't need their units. If he has other units that he's renting out on Air B&B then, he needs to move into one of those.
