imo 2014 'emo' was actually more grunge looks (I've been emo\alt since 2008 6th grade and I'm just happy every time we start trending again and ppl aren't afraid to dress how they want)

Lmao I went strictly by alternative instead of emo back in the day. Needless to say I had a hipster phase in my early 20s lmao. Now I just enjoy the kids being back the emo vibe in my 30s.
