@mechaniclink: There are a lot of folks out there that will say it's hopeless, or it doesn't matter, or some other country is worse, or we did in the past... but these types of excuses are usually to help cope and gaslight ourselves into thinking it's OK to not do the small right thing. I'm not trying to be a crusader or turn other into crusaders. But I gotta say, those comments hurt my soul a bit. #mechanic #technician #refrigerant #auto #repair 2475
that's a low blow man now I definitely won't do it rip the goat

It’s why I’m so against Freon available on the shelf for everyone. Refrigerant systems are closed. If it’s low then there’s a leak. FIX THE LEAK just dumping Freon into the air

I have always found it amusing that people say that about refrigerant but don’t realize that some are heavier than air and just sink. I’m still gonna recover Freon because it’s expensive. Just sayin.

if I remember correctly. Releasing freon into the atmosphere is a 20k fine.

I pulled an engine at a Pull&Pay yard recently, and the AC system was in the way, so once I started disconnecting lines I found out it was still charged. Whoops. P&P should have recovered system...

My shops 134 machine stopped working and we got a 1234/134 to replace it. I took the old 134 machine and fixed it. Never did ac at home but I do now.

Growing up, we had a show called The Smoggies. Do not let the refrigerant into the atmosphere intentionally. Think of the turtles, and The Smoggies. 😁

Not to mention we professionals CANNOT advocate or condone venting refrigerant. Recovery is cheap and easy, just do it.
