What do you think of KC Grand Resort Koh Chang? Which resort would you recommend where it's beachfront plus pool and high standards food, rooms etc? Seems flying via Istanbul with 1:30 layover and then to BKK with 2 hour layover (19 hours total) is best route....what do you suggest..

Ko Lipe was cool. Boat takes you right to your hotel on the beach. More laid back. And the trip thru southern Thailand to get there was beautiful. Satun

The first recommended 3 islands are not really suitable for backpacking on a budget. The last two definitely not. Full of resorts which have made the islands soulless.

if you've never been before then yes visit the tourist places. you won't feel lost if you do. second and third trips you do the none tourist areas

i love crouded places not quiet place ... i visited thaliand where we were the only one on the beach on the bar... i dont feel comfortable even though its seem safe, so we decided to move to pataya
