такі курчата найвитриваліші. Наша курка кілька років тому привела курчат в кінці вересня - вижили абсолютно всі, хоча осінь була рання і холодна

When someone with dementia says something that is untrue, it's important to handle the situation with empathy and understanding. When you hear the untrue statement, first determine if it's a problem or not by listening to their tone of voice and watching their body language. If they don't seem concerned, respond and just move on. However, if they are upset, here are 4 steps to follow:

 1. Validate their feelings by repeating back what they are expressing. Focus on their feelings rather than the facts. It's important not to get caught up in feeling like you are agreeing with them.
 2. Empathize with the situation and express how you would feel if the situation were reversed.
 3. Make them feel safe by offering solutions that exist in their world, such as talking about past experiences that provide comfort or security.
 4. Redirect their attention and move on by doing something or talking about something that will shift their focus away from the upsetting topic. However, don't move on too quickly, as this can feel dismissive and invalidating.

This approach is based on the components of Validation Therapy developed by Naomi Feil which is most useful for individuals in the moderate stages of dementia.
