@msemilyrose11: Replying to @Natalie Roper the 1/2 we have been throwing out is now considered safe to use “discard” that you can either continue to throw away, OR save in an airtight container in the fridge and can use for “discard recipes” (pinterest dude). I don’t keep my discard in the fridge longer than a couple weeks before I throw it out if I havent used it. Reminder: im feeding it again tonight before bed (unless you guys want me to record that and post, i won’t) and will see you guys in the morning to begin the loaf making process i follow 😎🤘🏼I’ll be starting with the feeding around 8am PST. #sourdoughstarter #sourdough #breadtok
so mine floated, doubled in sized, smells sour, and has bubbles all the way through... its day 2 haha. I live high altitude so im assuming thats why but i almost want to wait a few days

This is where I get frustrated. I've spent over a month trying to get this to work. I get MAYBE 50% growth after 2 weeks of 1x/day feeding. And here I am, a month into 2x/day with no action, whatsoever

Halp! I passed the float test. It’s Wednesday. But I can’t bake until Friday. Do I just keep feeding her? Once? Twice?

Question 🙋🏼♀️what happens if part of it is floating and part of it is still sinking? Does that mean it needs a few more days?

I neglected it for a day and a half but just tried the test and it floated. Should I continue to make up for the missed time or start baking?

My starter is ~2 weeks in. I had one really good rise during the first week but now it hasn’t been rising very much at all, still bubbling though. It looks like it passes the float test??

Ive been feeding it only once since it became an active starter so about 3 to 4 days. Is the alcohol smell normal?

Question! If I’m baking for 2 people, could I use less flour to feed my starter? Instead of 1 cup, does 1/2 cup work still. I just don’t want to be too wasteful 😬

Hi 👋🏻 This whole series is amazing!! Thank you!! I have one question. After it passes the rise test how often do you feed it? You said you went a year once without feeding 🤗
