@livinglarsonhome: ✨ More ledger board info 👇 Hi! I’m Kaitlyn, a mom of two, and my husband and I were quoted 37k for a deck extension, so I convinced him to let us DIY it! Follow along to see our progress on this project, and share with someone wanting to add more space to their deck! The code specifies two rows of screws, 5” apart, with the second row at least 7.5” from the top of the board for a 2x12. There screws should be no more than 2” from the edges and tops of the board. We positioned ours at 3 1/8” and 8 ¼” from the top and spaced them 10” apart in staggered rows. The screws had to be a maximum of 10” apart because our joists are so long, and because of the placement of the joists on the ledger (it’s really helpful to map out where they will go ahead of time), we opted for 8” spacing between the screws. We went with 5/16x4” powerlag screws to secure the ledger board into the house rim joist. We will also attach tension ties from the joist into the house once the deck framing is complete. Stay tuned to see this deck extension come to life! #DIYDeck #HomeImprovement #LedgerBoard #DIYProjects #DeckExtension #HomeRenovation #MomsWhoDIY #DIYHome #DIYBeginner #DeckBuilding #MomLife #HomeProjects #PowerTools #DIYProjects #OutdoorDIYProject #DIYInspiration #DIYTips #DIYMom #HomeDIY #WeekendProjects #diyhomeprojects
