At the age of 14 he fell into the abyss and met Skirk, who taught him the art of battle and war, where he learnt ways of swordmanship for 3 months. When he finally came back to the surface something about him changed. He became confident, cocky, and egoistic. He battled people on the basis, and because of that he was sent to the Fatui by his father, thinking it would help Childe lessen his violent attitude. But in the end he only developed cravings for power, battles, and bloodshed. Humanity clinging to him as he slowly loses himself. While Childe's background reveals that not all monsters are inherently evil, it's clear from his actions and behavior that he is not above resorting to morally questionable means to achieve his goals. Furthermore, his past made him the man he is today, he manages to balance his love for his family and hunger for battle. He is constantly used as a weapon, and he does not mind it. "Besides, is being used as a weapon really that bad?" (A dialogue from 2.2) Childe's willingness to be used as a weapon highlights the profound effect his past experiences have had on his perception of himself. The intense training he received from Skirk and his time spent in the Abyss have left him with a drive for violence and power that is virtually irrepressible. Childe's question "is being used as a weapon really that bad?" reveals his internalized view of himself as a tool to be wielded in battle, rather than a complete human being. Notably, despite the harsh experiences of Childe's past, his personality doesn't reflect trauma or introverted tendencies like other characters with similar histories. Childe has a deep love and concern for his younger siblings, particularly Teucer. As seen in the quest, Childe instructs his brother to close his eyes during a moment of violence, to shield him from experiencing such harsh realities at a young age.
