@ausgeo: For the first time ever, an assemblage of 68 polar bears (Ursus maritimus) were spotted at a singular location, feasting on the carcass of a bowhead whale (Balaena mysticetus). This one-of-a-kind spectacle was captured by Australian photographer and long-time AG collaborator Nick Rains aboard a commercial icebreaker vessel operated by expedition cruise company @Ponant as it journeyed through the glacial wilderness of eastern Greenland in the Arctic. To see the exclusive photos of this “absolutely superb” experience in detail, head to the Australian Geographic website! 📷 @nickrains

it's incredible that despite their differences food brings them together. truly mesmerizing but also kind of sad that humans don't come together enough. animals lead by example
