a regular brushes bristles allow your hair to pass through horizontally or vertically, she obviously has her brush turned to the side which doesn't let the hair pass through

Same results if you use a regular brush with the handle pointed up or down. The bristles are in lines that way 🙃

you also should be brushing your hair rom ends to root till it's snarl free then run from root to end.
