I bring my work ethic and intelligence with me to every job I get…if they don’t compensate me enough, I leave. It’s smarter to just move on than to burn bridges with a bad boss.

I wouldn’t describe myself as highly intelligent but I can never do office gossip or the mundane bureaucracy. I need to critically think, engage meaningful conversations,etc so yes I’ve been burnt out

Tip: do consultancy, you dont need to get into company politics and projects usualy take few months so you can go to anothr company where you learn new ways of working.

Academia has been a life saver! I’m surrounded by similar individuals and academic freedom is written into our contracts giving us a lot of time and space to pursue our intersts, and tons of PTO

Wouldn’t playing small deplete their inner strength and power? Why not set work boundaries instead of making themselves small for others who don't respect them for what they have to offer?

Honestly this right here, changed careers and I have never been happier at work yes there are bad days most when it’s efficiency related or just childish chit chat from others. But the job in itself is a lot less stressful for me.

I had to leave the office environment altogether and go freelance. Now I can pick projects interesting to me and do them how and when I want, with deadlines that help keep me focused.
